Experience in Action

Helped Families
Noticing gaps in support for low-income families, I started the Parkland Pregnancy Support Centre, which provides free resources. Through the Centre, we also created the Hope Beverly House Society, the first local safe-house program for women fleeing domestic abuse, connecting to resources, and advocating for expanded services. These hands-on experiences guide me as your City Councillor—I don’t just talk about issues, I work to find solutions.

Business Experience
Over the past four years, Spruce Grove has grown its commercial and industrial sectors, helping diversify the tax base and keep residential taxes lower than they might be otherwise. As a small business owner with RavenWolf Brewing Co. Ltd., I bring experience in budgeting and decision-making to Council. I’ve co-chaired the Economic Development Advisory Committee and served on the City Centre Business Association, working to attract business and support our local economy.

Libraries and Arts
As a previous trustee on the SG Library Board and Council’s rep on the Regional Board, I’ve helped guide budgets, policies, and planning, working to ensure public dollars are used wisely and community needs are always front and center. Over the past four years on Council, I've supported Horizon Stage, the Allied Arts Council, public murals and cultural programs like Grove Gatherings.

Cold Weather Solutions
As Co-Chair of the Winter Emergency Response Committee, I saw the urgent need for a safe place during the cold months. Working with local organizations, I created the Late Night Café to provide warmth, safety, and support for people experiencing homelessness — an emergency solution that has saved lives and is now an ongoing community resource. This taught me how to bring people together and get things done.

Trying New Approaches - Homelessness
The City Council supported The Hub, a temporary project aimed at testing a new solution for helping people experiencing homelessness. From that experience, the City instead supports an Outreach Team, a mobile service providing support directly in the community.

Community Transit Access
Recognizing residents' challenges in reaching the Food Bank, I worked with a group to purchase/outfit the Engage Bus, volunteering to provide free rides for those in need. In 2021, Spruce Grove transitioned from a fixed-route system to an on-demand local transit service, improving access. Saturday service was expanded to Stony Plain, improving access to essential services.

Housing - Place to Call Home
On Council, I championed projects like the new Spruce Grove Lodge, adding 102 supportive living units for seniors and 40 local jobs. I also helped advance our Housing Strategy, ensuring we plan wisely for the future with options for young adults, families, and seniors. Partnering with groups like Meridian Housing Foundation,

Advocacy - Moving Forward
As VP of the Provincial Inter-City Forum on Social Policy, I worked with government and community leaders from across Alberta to tackle big-picture regional issues. Finding solutions, securing funding, and ensuring local voices were heard.
