Committed to Seeing Our Community Thrive
I'm Jan Gillett and I'm asking for your vote to become a Spruce Grove City Councilor!
I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a daughter of an aging senior who lives in this community. Like you, I understand the daily challenges in these times. When I see a need, I evaluate and act, finding real solutions that make sense.
I listen! I care! When I saw the financial struggle of some new mothers in our community. I reacted by creating a non-profit organization, Parkland Pregnancy Support Centre, that provides practical products and resources to assist these families to thrive.
I volunteer! I find solutions and make things happen. I like working with people of action that find the resources and the processes to get things done. I am most proud of my work on public transit - The Engage Food Bank Bus and the Late Night Café, a regional warm overnight space for homeless individuals during extreme winter cold months.
I am a business owner. Over the last year, we designed, planned, and renovated by recycling an older building in our industrial park to create RavenWolf Brewing Co. Ltd. We shaped strong business governance through authoring policies and procedures that ensured our success through the most economically challenging times. We've learned to pivot and to be adaptable ensuring business continuity for today and for years to come. As a starter business, I have learned how to navigate through the red tape of the CRA, and other federal and provincial regulatory bodies, Alberta Health, AGLC, and our City's licensing and permitting processes. We engage with local vendors and suppliers. We employ locally and currently have a diversified group of 18 amazing team members.
I am a happily married wife of 32 years. My husband and I have lived, worked, and raised our family in Spruce Grove for the last 25 years. I could not consider asking for your vote without their support.
I am a competent leader. I have been an engaged and committed advocate for many in our community and serve as a Public Library Trustee, an active business member of the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Capital Campaign - Meridian Housing Foundation and co-chair of the Winter Emergency Response Committee.
I recognize the needs in our community, whether economic, social, or environmental and I look forward to being a part of the viable solution that supports every individual to thrive here in Spruce Grove.
In these Covid times, I want to be respectful and will limit my door-knocking activities. I am available to each and every one of you through my website and email so please feel free to reach out and connect with me.
